Saint Raymond School Goals
Saint Raymond School serves students by providing a quality, Catholic education in a Catholic environment where administration, staff, parents, and parish work in communion for each child’s growth in faith, knowledge, and love.
SPIRITUAL:
- to nurture and develop the students’ faith formation in the Catholic tradition
- to teach doctrines, traditions, rituals, practices of the Catholic faith
- to provide opportunities for students to take part in daily prayer, class and school liturgies, prayer services, and seasonal traditions
- to form future leaders for our Church
- to provide a forum for discussion of Catholic doctrines as they affect the daily life of young students
- to engage students in the study of scripture so that they gain insight that will lead to the application of gospel values to decisions, choices, and actions
- to help students explore and live the principles of social justice by involvement in outreach and service learning activities
- to encourage students to use their talents for the benefit of the community
ACADEMIC:
- to implement the curriculum guidelines of the Diocese of Oakland and the standards of the State of California in the areas of religion, science, mathematics, language arts, literature, social studies, foreign language, fine and performing arts, and physical education
- to deliver instruction that will lead students to mastery of the Saint Raymond School curriculum
- to assist students in gaining a strong foundation of study skills so that they develop self discipline in working to their academic potential
- to provide opportunities for creative problem solving and critical thinking
- to engage students in instruction that will enable them to communicate clearly through various modalities, including writing, speaking, technology, and fine arts
- to offer instructional opportunities that, if applied conscientiously, may allow students to enter advanced classes when they matriculate into high school
- to give opportunities for students to take part in activities that promote a positive competitive spirit while applying academic preparation in various curricular areas
- SOCIAL/EMOTIONAL:
- to establish and carry out a network of support services that foster personal, spiritual, academic, physical, emotional and psychological growth and well-being of students
- to offer and encourage participation in a variety of extra-curricular activities that support students in becoming well-rounded individuals
