Each family raises $500 (or $250 for single families) as part of the tuition contract. The school uses this to supplement the cost of education. The cost per pupil to educate each student is only covered by 90% of the tuition fees. We believe it is ministry of our church and a social justice issue to maintain a tuition schedule that helps families afford a Catholic education for families who want it. There are specific ways to donate and get credit toward the fund raising requirement. These are the Auction, Believe Fundraising Program, See’s Candy, Scrip or a cash contribution towards our Annual Fund.
In past St. Raymond School had weekly bingo and more recently the annual auction that significantly supplemented the tuition to provide the standard of education we want for our students. We are proud that our students are accepted at the Catholic High Schools and often graduate from high school honors classes.
Without fundraising we would need to charge about $1,000 more per student, remove second and additional student discounts and reduce funds available for Tuition Assistance.
In addition to these activities we also have a restricted number of fundraising events for classes and the PTG. Sometimes classes will raise funds for a service project or bring items for a collection. The PTG fundraising activities include “dine-outs” and a Barnes and Noble event.
In January, for Catholic Schools Week, we have the Scholastic Book Sale and the funds are directly used to support literacy in the classroom and library. The School Board sells spirit wear all year to support the Endowment Fund. These do not contribute to the family fundraising requirement.
Cash donations toward the Endowment Fund are another way to improve the long-term fiscal viability of St. Raymond School. We want to have funds for a rainy day. We also want to be responsible and have funds to maintain and improve our school facilities. Some companies will contribute matching funds for voluntary charitable contributions. Voluntary charitable donations are tax deductible. Please consider us as your charity of choice as we strive to give a quality education to your children!
